My musical roots
My journey into music began at just 10 years old when I picked up a bass guitar. By 14, I was already immersed in the music scene, playing my first professional gig in a bar. At 16, I proudly joined the Musicians Union, an experience that took me all over the state of Washington. About 30 years ago, I transitioned to playing guitar, and since then, I've played countless bands and gigs – from private parties and corporate events to lively fairs, bars, and more, across Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, and even Canada.

A lifetime of sound
My repertoire spans the decades, bringing you the best of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, covering Rock, Blues, and Country. I also perform a special tribute to the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan. Throughout my career as Johnny Ray, I've had the incredible honor of working with artists like Ferlin Husky and opening for acclaimed acts such as Little Big Town, David Allan Coe, Johnny Cash, and Mickey Gilley, to name just a few.

Connecting through song
What makes my live performances special is the connection I build with the audience. I love to play to the crowd and relate to each person. During my breaks, I make it a point to go out, chat with everyone, thank them for coming, ask where they're from, and find out if there's anything specific they'd love to hear. I truly enjoy playing the music the crowd wants, bringing back cherished memories of a time long ago.
"The place came alive with shouting and dancing!"
I was playing in a country bar a few years ago when some friends came in, which was a pleasant surprise. When I got up for my next set, they all jumped up, shouting "Stevie! Stevie!" I grabbed my Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar, started playing "Pride and Joy," and the entire place erupted in shouts and dancing. That's the kind of energy I love to create. - Johnny Ray
